DMTF Helps Enable Multi-Vendor Data Center Management with New Redfish 1.0 Standard
DMTF has announced the release of Redfish 1.0, a standard for data center and systems management that delivers improved performance, functionality, scalability and security. Designed to meet the expectations of end users for simple and interoperable management of modern scalable platform hardware, Redfish takes advantage of widely-used technologies to speed implementation and help system administrators be more effective.
Don’t Forget to Attend the System Management Forum Plugfest This Week!
This week, during the DMTF Alliance Partner Technical Symposium (APTS) in Portland, Oregon, the System Management Forum (SMF) is hosting the System Management Conformance Test Suite Plugfest. Implementers of the Desktop and Mobile Architecture for System Hardware (DASH) and the Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH) are encouraged to attend the day-long plugfest designed to gain feedback on the Work in Progress of the SMF Conformance Testing Suites, DASH CTS v2.0 and SMASH CTS v1.0, as well as the interoperability of tools and management consoles supporting DASH and SMASH.
DMTF Academic Workshop on Datacenter and Cloud Management Extends Call for Papers Deadline
DMTF will host the eighth annual Datacenter and Cloud Management 2015 workshop (DCM2015) on November 9 in Barcelona, Spain. Designed to showcase DMTF alliances within the academic community, the workshop covers standards and new technologies in the management of platforms, systems and datacenters. Papers must be submitted by July 19. For more information go to the Events page on the DMTF website.
Free Webinar, “Redfish Data Model Deep Dive,” Now Available On-Demand
In case you missed it, the free webinar, “Redfish Data Model Deep Dive,” is now available on-demand in the DMTF Learning Center. This technically oriented webinar walks through the resources represented in the Redfish 1.0 data model. Led by DMTF President Jeff Hilland, the session uses a mockup of Redfish JSON payloads to familiarize viewers with the base resource, major collections (Server, Chassis and Manager) and their components, as well as supporting services that are available through the interface. Alliance Partner Technical Symposium Event Preview
DMTF’s Alliance Partner Technical Symposium (APTS) is less than a month away but there is still time to make plans to attend! Hosted in partnership with longstanding alliance partner, Storage Networking Industry Alliance (SNIA), the symposium runs from July 20-24 in Portland, Oregon and includes meetings focused on technical topics and the technical work of interest of each of DMTF’s alliance partners.
Common Diagnostic Model (CDM) Forum Releases White Paper
The DMTF’s Common Diagnostic Model (CDM) Forum recently published the updated white paper, “Common Information Model (CIM) Diagnostic Model.” The paper describes the CDM schema as it appears in CIM 2.34 and in future development. It provides guidance, where appropriate, to client and provider implementers to reinforce the standardization goal.

DMTF Announces Adoption of Cloud Management Standard by ISO and IEC
DMTF today announced that the organization’s Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI) standard has been adopted and published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as ISO/IEC 19831:2015. CIMI’s publication by ISO/IEC as an International standard for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) management is expected to accelerate worldwide adoption and interoperability, and is the latest DMTF standard to achieve this designation.
