The DMTF Board of Directors has named Winston Bumpus a DMTF Fellow, the organization’s highest honor. Bumpus retired from VMware Inc. last month after a distinguished 47-year career in the technology industry, including two decades of service to the DMTF in a variety of leadership roles, including president and chair of the Board.
DMTF Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected on the basis of their outstanding long-term contributions and professional excellence. As a Fellow, Bumpus can continue to contribute and share his vast historical knowledge with the organization, as his new schedule permits.
“Winston served as president and then Chair of DMTF from 1998-2014 – a period of enormous change in the world of technology,” said Jeff Hilland, DMTF president. “As one of the industry’s most visible and vocal supporters of interoperable standards, Winston’s tireless work on behalf of the DMTF increased the organization’s stature and ensured its enduring relevance. The decision to award him with the title of DMTF Fellow was an easy one - please join me in raising a glass of Winston’s signature Limoncello, as we wish him smooth sailing ahead in his retirement!”
